I am a native Charlottean, but relocated to Durham, NC to serve as an AmeriCorps VISTA for NC Campus Compact. My host site is Movement of Youth (MOY), a mentoring organization that serves middle and high school students in Durham, and Orange County. MOY’s mission is to have college students mentor youth from diverse backgrounds to lead and succeed in the 21st century by using targeted enrichment activities.

As a Site Operations VISTA, I build relationships with community-based organizations, assess community and agency needs and identify assets, recruit and train student, faculty, staff, and community volunteers, develop data systems to manage people and performance, create policies and procedures that increase agency effectiveness, and support citizen and student leadership and participation in service.

I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor of Social Work. I will be attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the fall of 2019 to pursue my Master of Social Work part-time. I speak Rhade and English. Outside of work, I am a full-time mother to an intelligent and beautiful 10-year old girl, Aveana Nie. I enjoy cooking Southeast Asian foods, especially ones from the homeland, and outdoor adventures like hiking, canoeing and nature walks.
