HELP US BUILD OUR COMMUNITY WELLNESS CENTER
July 29, 2026
Dear Sir or Madam,
I hope this message finds you well. My name is Liana Adrong, and I am currently serving as the executive director at the Montagnard Association of North Carolina, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Community-Based organization formed in 1986, formerly known as Montagnard Dega Association Inc. (MDA). Our mission is to unite and strengthen the fraternal ties of all people of Montagnard heritage. North Carolina is home to the largest concentration of Montagnards outside Vietnam and accounts for a major share of the local AAPI population. Most of our people have been dislocated due to the Vietnam War and religious persecution, and now live in Greensboro, Raleigh, Charlotte, and New Bern.
Our organization has helped thousands of people over the past three decades and has rented for over 37 years; it is time for us to construct our own office building and community wellness center. This will allow us to continue our legacy and create a space for cultural preservation for future generations. The center will host a variety of programs focused on both physical and mental wellness, as well as activities for elders and youth, including gardening, soccer, and volleyball. It will emphasize cultural preservation, provide scholarship opportunities for Montagnard youth, and offer culturally and linguistically appropriate services for our elders.
Additionally, we plan to include tiny houses on the wellness center campus to support further our elders who are currently unhoused. Through this initiative, we aim to nurture our community, honor our heritage, and create a brighter future for our people.
This vision is not new to us; it has emerged from years of dedicated needs assessments, Montagnard hypertension research, community listening sessions, and various mini-research projects conducted over the past five to ten years. Our community members have expressed a strong need for land to build a community wellness center. We recently acquired thirteen acres of land where we plan to establish this community wellness center; we have already paid $325,000 and still owe $175,000. To bring this vision to life, we invite you and your organization to be a part of this BIG DREAM by supporting the work we are passionate about!
We need your help to raise $175,000 to pay off the land and an additional $3,500,000 to construct the community wellness center. Please take a moment to watch the video above.
We invite you to consider giving a Legacy Gift or a Major Gift toward our community wellness center, a vital space for our elders, youth, and newcomers. This is not just a community center; it’s a place to heal, a place to grow, a place to preserve our culture, and a place to call HOME. DREAM BIG with us and leave a legacy for the next generation. Consider making a Legacy Gift to help us build our community wellness center.
We sincerely appreciate your consideration in supporting the Montagnard Association of North Carolina, Inc. in making this dream a reality, and we look forward to hearing from you soon. For further questions, please email Liana at hyuamao@gmail.com or call/text 336-541-2447. Thank you- Lač jăk.
Sincerely,
